London 2012 Campaign

London 2012

On the 28th July 2012 racing will start in Weymouth Bay and the battle for the 10 available Olympic sailing medals will begin. Very few people in World experience winning a Gold medal at the Olympics and even fewer get the opportunity to win it on home waters. The GBR Match Racing Girls however have this goal firmly set in their sights and are prepared to leave no stone unturned in their campaign.

Match Racing

After the 2008 Beijing Olympics the 3 women Yngling class was removed as a discipline for 2012 and the decision was taken by ISAF to replace it with the well established and exciting class of Match Racing.

Elliott 6m

The chosen boat for the Women’s Match Racing discipline is the Elliott 6m. The class, previously sailed in Australia and New Zealand has been modified slightly from the original design to create physical, exciting 3 women boats. Boats will be provided at the events to secure evenly matched equipment.
