Tricky conditions in Hyeres today for our second day of the Semaine Olympique Francaise. Our group was sent out on time just after 9.00 this morning but we were greeted by 1 knot when we finally drifted our way to the race course. After 3hrs of drifting the race committee finally gave in and sent us ashore where after another hour wait we were sent back out on the water again. This time though we were greeted by a fickle 6 knots which they sent the racing off in. Our first race was probably our strongest, leading from start to finish then our second and third races were extremely close winning the first by half a boat length and loosing the next by not much more!
With 5 wins and 1 loss we have finished second in our group to the French team helmed by Le Berre, which automatically puts us through to the gold fleet and quarter finals.
The gold fleet will start tomorrow after the final 3 group C matches and the first 3 repecharge races. It was a tricky day today with light, shifty breeze, certainly hoping for more wind tomorrow!
